The Launch
I launched living.so to my friends and family back in June 2024, and the feedback was super helpful - I was able to squash a bunch of bugs and make some real improvements. Before opening it up to a wider audience, I wanted to add something really cool: AI Copilot. This feature would let users use generative AI to rewrite their texts, and I was excited to get it up and running. It took a bit longer than I'd hoped, since I was juggling a full-time job at the same time.
I also managed to sneak in another game-changing feature called Hierarchical Blogging, or tree-based blogging. Think of it like organizing files on your computer: you can create a nested story within a story, or break it down into chapters. It's like having a folder (the tale) and individual files (the chapters) - and it's going to revolutionize the way we tell digital stories.
I also bought the traveling.so domain, so now users can create travel blogs on either living.so or traveling.so. I've also beefed up the platform with some extra features like custom SEO and custom domains, and introduced a paid "Pro" subscription for those who want more.
I recently launched living.so on Peerlist in early September 2024, and it was a huge success - it topped the charts as the #1 Project of the week and #1 Project of the month. I also saw a great response from users, with over 100 people creating their own sites. However, when it came to converting those users to Pro subscriptions, the numbers were a bit disappointing - I only managed to get one person to upgrade to the Pro plan.
